Cuando Ian Curtis se suicidó el 18 de Mayo de 1980, Joy Division murió.
Fue un grupo que poco a poco se fue haciendo su hueco hasta aquel fatídico día.
Los antiguos componentes decidieron continuar en la música: era su vida, pero lo hicieron bajo otro nombre, New Order.
El primer single que grabaron fue "Ceremony", una canción grabada anteriormente por Ian Curtis y compañia.
